What is a hormone? Any of various internally secreted compounds, as insulin or thyroxine, formed in endocrine glands, that affect the functions of specifically receptive organs or tissues when transported to them by the body fluids.
What system is responsible for the production of hormones? The reproductive system.
Sketch a picture of the female reproductive system. Include the oviduct, ovaries, uterus, cervix and vagina.

What is another name for the fallopian tube? The cervix
Where does fertilization take place? The ovaries

What happens during the flow phase? The uterine lining sloughs off.
What happens during the follicular phase? The follicle enlarges and produces a hormone.
What happens during the luteal phase? The corpus luteum produces a hormone, which causes uterine lining.
What happens to the uterine lining during the first phase? It sloughs off.
What are the four hormones that control the menstrual cycle? Lh, FSH, Estrogen, and progesterone.
As FSH increases in concentration in the blood, the follicle is? Increased
When the follicle ruptures it releases what? Eggs
What is considered the hormone of pregnancy? Fertilization

What is menopause? What causes it? Permanent cessation of menstruation. As you get older you more likely to get it.

What is a placenta? A temporary organ joining the mother and fetus, the placenta transfers oxygen
